Mayday Stories: Day 12 Surviving a Dragon

This prompt was in honor of Arabian Nights with an attempt to tell a story as a form of survival. Ours had surprising and humorous happenings.

Check it out:

"Imagine!" Perry declares, encompassing the entire cavern around him with a sweeping gesture. "You are in a dragon's lair!"

The dragon looks around at the walls, confused. It was in a dragon's liar. In fact, it's the dragon.

"Stay with me," Perry stage whispers. "I am setting the scene!"

The dragon wasn't sure what to do when the little two-legged beings talked back.

"Ahem." Perry clears his throat. "As I said, you are in a dragon's lair! Perhaps your mother told you adventuring was not for you! Or perhaps your betrothed implied you were not brave enough to leave the city you grew up in!" He pauses for dramatic effect. "Whichever the case, you set off into the wild world, all on your own!" He places a hand at his diaphragm and another at the small of his back, a pose he'd seen many actors take on and which Perry assumes helps to project your voice. "You traveled through the forest and over the river! Up mountains and across valleys! And now," Perry declares, "now you find yourself before a mighty dragon who possesses riches beyond your greatest imaginings!" He peers at the dragon. "I mean you," he says. The dragon leans back and blinks.

"What can you do when certain death lies before you?" Perry cries. "You are no warrior or mage! Neither might nor magic is at your beck and call! No!" Perry falls to his knees in a most dramatic fashion. "All you have... are words!" The dragon scrambles up onto his claws, looking around. Maybe another dragon has sent this jester as a trick.

"On your knees, you beseech the dragon!" Perry continues. "Oh, mighty dragon! Give me the chance to earn my life! I am no threat to your greatness nor your treasure! I am but a simple man of moderate means who almost certainly has no one expecting him to return! Please! Allow me to earn my escape... with a story!" Perry bows his head and clasps his hands together in supplication. The dragon stares at the small creature with total confusion. With one fell swoop of its jaws, it eats the being whole.
