Monthly Prompt: Creation Stories

 

Last month we looked at the concept of fruit in mythology and fairytales. This month, we're diving into the world of creation stories. We'll be looking at creation from a variety of cultures and angles such as creation from chaos, earth divers, emergence tales, creation out of nothing, world parent, and divine twins. 

Write a short story by the end of the month. If you're feeling ambitious, you can shoot for the length of a novella.

The story is to be a creation tale of your own making. We suggest looking into the creation stories for inspiration. Decide where your creation will take place. Did your world emerge from nothing? Was it formed from fire or chaos? You'll need to create a world and possible deities to go with the creation. Think about how people came to be. Did they form from clay? Are there animals or plant life? Is this is a world of lava? 

Consider all these questions as you think about your story of creation.
