Fan-Fic Friday: Inspired by Utopia Fiction

This week the focus has been on utopia societies. So for fan-fic Friday, I've chosen to celebrate those societies with some fun prompts inspired by some well-known utopian works. Writing a utopia is an exciting challenge and will allow you to think about what makes up the "perfect" future.

1.) The book (and later movie) The Giver introduces a seemingly perfect future that has all of the residents complacent with the way things are until the main character discovers the dark truth about human history. Write a short story set in the future where something significant has been kept from society. This can be literature, history, movies, etc. Then have your main character discover this hidden truth.

2.) In honor of The Time Machine, write a short story where you have a main character that goes to the future and discovers a beautiful paradise but underneath this lovely Eden is a dark underworld. Or if you want to change things up, flip around which one is the true paradise.

3.) Writing a short story where the lead character is trying to break free of the Utopia society OR write a short story where the lead character is trying to stop a friend from escaping.

4.) Write a short story inspired by Gulliver's Travels

Happy writing!
